The Heart’s Way for Creative Clinicians

Helping mental health professionals do their work in creative and interesting ways

Welcome Creative Clinicians! It’s been a few years since I began my blogging adventure with The Heart’s Way, Imagery and Insights. This was/is a blog with the goal of bringing hope and help to those struggling with the stresses of life. Unfortunately, I had to take a break from this endeavor (I’ll explain below). Now, I’m newly retired and ready to not only relaunch my initial blog, but launch it’s sister, namely The Heart’s Way for Creative Clinicians! I hope you’re ready to join me. Whether we are becoming reacquainted or meeting for the first time, I’m pleased to be here! The Heart’s Way, Imagery and Insights had it’s birth in 2015 and was up and running for a few years. Then enter…life! During those years I was working full-time in the mental health field and starting up my private practice in Clinical Social Work. I had a few bouts with illness and some issues with chronic pain. At the time it was just all too much to keep the blog going.

Fast forward to today

It’s now 2021, and I’m forging a new chapter. A lot has happened in this world of ours, and with me personally. I retired from my private practice in June 2019. In September 2019 I had my second knee replacement which, unfortunately resulted in numerous complications as well as more surgery. (Thankfully I am beginning to get back on my feet). And then, in 2020, for all of us…Covid-19 hit.

What can I offer to you?

Even with all of the STUFF I’ve been through, I believe that I do have value to offer. To you, the mental health clinician, who wants to do their best to help others, even amidst this pandemic. You, who are facing stresses both professionally and personally during these unprecedented times. I really want to be a help, a resource, a breathing and settling in place for you. I offer to you 38 years of experience as a mental health clinician, working with people of all ages through their life struggles. I loved my work. Even though I don’t go into the “office” to see clients anymore, I still have a desire to help people. To reach out to connect with those who may be hurting, anxious, or depressed. And to help clinicians who understand this desire to help others.

How can I help?

I’m all about looking at life from a humanistic viewpoint. In 38 years of working in the mental health field I never tired of hearing people’s stories. Every story is unique because each person is unique. I believe that there are many ways to be helpful, so you’ll probably find The Heart’s Way for Creative Clinicians to be a rather unique blog. We’ll explore a variety of topics in a variety of ways. From traditional blog posts, to music therapy (like exploring music therapy playlists such as “Feel Good” Guitar Music). To guided imagery (check out my page – What is Guided Imagery? ) and other creative endeavors. And because I couldn’t practice without being touched by all of the wonderful people who came to me for counseling, this blog will also include some personal insights as to how these people informed my therapeutic practice.

What’s next?

Life can be difficult, but life can also be good. Oh so good. Let’s talk of all things serious, contemplative, fun-loving, and worthy. If this sounds interesting, I would be honored if you would join me on this therapeutic journey. Blessings to you all!
